Schnucks Culinaria: It's a Go!
Maybe now people will stop asking loft dwellers where they do their grocery shopping.
A dedication ceremony yesterday marked the beginning of construction on the 20,800 sf downtown Schnucks store on the first floor of the Ninth Street Garage, facing the Old Post Office. The store will open this summer and will operate under Schnucks’ new Culinaria brand concept.
Tom Collora – former manager of the Arsenal Schnucks store (a great store, BTW) – will oversee the Culinaria’s operations
The Schnucks Culinaria should be a great addition to downtown and should go a long way toward making downtown a more attractive place to live. In addition to offering a full-service grocery store, it will also mark the return of a pharmacy to downtown St. Louis – a much-needed amenity. Hopefully, City Grocers will be able to successfully reposition itself so that both stores can co-exist.
One suggestion on how Schnucks can help ensure that its new downtown store will be a success: move its corporate offices downtown from Maryland Heights!
